7 best relationship advice from Bollywood movie characters!

The Indian Film Industry thrives on romance. From Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein, Bollywood is all about love songs, grand gestures, and everlasting romance. Some of it might be a little cliche but we all secretly love it. We all take ideas from Bollywood on how to impress the person we love. But, what after that?

Just like every other time, Bollywood is here to save the day. Even though Bollywood portrays cliche romance, it also churns out some of the best relationship advice. From your first date to happily ever after, here are seven best relationship advice from Bollywood movie characters.

  1. Sanjana, Mohabbatein:

Sanjana once said “Koi pyar kare toh tumse kare, tum jaise ho waise kare ... koi tumko badal ke pyar kare, toh woh pyar nahi woh sauda kare ... aur saheba, pyar mein sauda nahi hota” Isn’t she right? There may be changes and adjustments in life and relationships, but that should mean that you will mould yourself into the image of the person you love. Small changes are necessary but if you have to change everything about yourself, then maybe that’s not the right person for you.

  1. Jug, Dear Zindagi:

SRK, once again to your rescue. “Jab hum apne aap ko achi tarah samajh lete hai ... toh doosre kya samajhte hai, it doesn't matter ... not at all”. Do you really know yourself? What are your ambitions? Well, if you don’t, no one will. Before you start dating someone, try to understand your own needs. This way you will be more clear about who you want and what you want. Concentrate on yourself and be the best version of yourself. What is meant for you will find you when the right time comes.

  1. Abhimanyu Roy, Meri Pyaari Bindu:

“Zindagi ek pighalti hui ice cream ki tarah hai ... taste nahi kiya toh waste ho jayegi”. He said it easier than anyone has ever. Every moment in your relationship is important and precious. It will only happen once and will be wasted if you didn’t enjoy it to the fullest. I mean, who would want their ice cream to be wasted? You got in a fight, sort it out and move on. Don’t stay mad about something that happened on 15th March at 9:30 p.m. Live every moment and enjoy your time together with the same intensity as you showed on your first date.

  1. Rhea Prakash, Hum Tum:

You just went on a date and it didn’t go as planned? Well listen to what Rhea said, “Kabhi toh pehli mulaqat hi kaafi hoti hai ... aur kabhi bahut si mulaqatein lag jaati hai.'' Exactly! Just because you didn’t hit it off on your first date, does not mean that you are not good for each other. Love, at first sight, is real, but what if your love is supposed to be like a slow-cooked dish? Watch out for red flags obviously, but don’t give up just yet. Good things take time.

  1. Taani, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi:

Even though Taani and Sukhi’s love story was written by Aditya Chopra, she gave the best advice for men, “Ek ladki sirf itna hi chahti hai… ki koi usse itna pyar kare… jitna kisi ne kisi se na kiya ho.” See, it’s not that difficult to understand. Women know when you are not giving them your 100%. If you have a girl in your life, who you love more than anything, then express it. She doesn’t need you to sing songs for her or to do what ‘Raj’ did. All that’s needed is a little effort.

  1. Mariyam, Veer-Zaara:

This advice is something we all should take. “Ek aurat ki mohabbat aur ek mard ki mohabbat mein bahut fark hota hai”. We all have different ways to express our feelings. Some may bring you gifts while others may write poetry for you. If they don't love you the way you want or expect, doesn't mean they don't love you the way they know how.

  1. Chandni, Chandni:

You have fallen in love and been through a heartbreak, but as Chandni said “Jeevan ke kis mod pe, kab koi mil jaaye ... kaun keh sakta hai?”. There is someone out there for all of us. You may have met a hundred people, fallen for a few, and may have gotten your heart broken, but don’t give up hope just yet. What’s yours will find you. Not everything is as simple as movies we watch, but a little bit of patience and faith and your love will find you where you have never expected it to be.

Sometimes all you need to do for some relationship advice is turn on these films and they will tide you over.
