Top 5 Bollywood films that got international attention

Bollywood films are loved by people all around the world. It is a massive industry known for its larger-than-life characters, unique storytelling, exquisite dance sequences and power-packed emotions. So here, we have curated a list of the Top 5 Indian films that international audiences love.

1. Lagaan (2001)

Lagaan is amongst the best film made in India. Set in the British era, the film highlights the atrocities done by Britishers to collect hefty taxes from the Indian peasants. In order to suspend the tax for the next 5 years, the Indian peasants need to win a cricket match against them. The film was directed by Ashutosh Gowarikar and was an official Indian entry at the Oscars.



2. Pather Panchali (1995)

Satyajit`s directorial debut Pather Panchali was the inception of India`s Golden era in films. The film tells the story of a family living in Bengal and shows their struggle to make ends meet. The film is remembered for its social realism and authenticity. It was widely appreciated in the west and has won numerous accolades including a BAFTA for best film.



3. RRR (2022)

RRR is an action-packed visually stunning film which has made the international audience go ballistic. Set during the British era, the film tells the tale of two individuals who revolt against the Britishers to retrieve a kid who the Britishers kidnapped.



4. 3 Idiots (2009)

Once in a few decades comes a film which changes the mindset of society. 3 idiots is one such film. The film was a huge success in India as well as abroad. Very few people know that the film has been adapted in Mexico under the name of 3 Idiotas.



5. Salaam Bombay (1988)
Salaam Bombay is an apt reflection on the lives of people living in Bombay`s slums. The story revolves around poverty, greed and revenge at the epicentre of a brothel. This film is directed by Mira Bair and was an official entry at the Oscars.
