Movies directed by Farhan Akhtar that are true gems of Bollywood

Farhan Akhtar entered Bollywood as an assistant director and launched himself as a director with Dil Chahta Hai in 2001 which was produced by Excel Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. A production company he established along with Ritesh Sidhwani in 1999. Since then there was no turning back for the veteran director.

1. Dil Chahta Hai (2001)

Dil Chahta Hai is a movie we all love. The movie is set in modern-day urban Mumbai and Sydney and focuses on a major period of transition in the lives of three young friends. The film even won a National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi.



2. Lakshya (2004)
This Indian war drama starred Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. Lakshya is the story of Karan Shergill, an aimless young man who turned into an army officer. It is a fun-filled movie with lots of emotions.


3. Don (2006)
This action-thriller film starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Arjun Rampal, and Boman Irani was the reboot of the old Don (1978) starring Amitabh Bachchan but with a never to guess the twist. Don was awarded Best Asian Film at the Neuchâtel International Fantastic Film Festival.


4. Don 2 (2011)
After the immense success of Don, Farhan Akhtar and his team were back with the sequel Don 2 starring Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, and Kunal Kapoor. Don 2 takes place five years after the previous film when Don plans to take over the European drug cartel.
