He made his debut with a national award as a child actor in his Dad’s Mera Naam Joker. He also got many awards for his debut as an actor with Bobby. He is none other than Rishi Kapoor. Let's take a hike down memory lane and look at some gems of his films that were true masterpieces
1. Bobby (1973)
Bobby is truly an epic movie, one of the best romances ever. The film instantly put Rishi Kapoor on the path of becoming the most successful actor in Bollywood.
2. Rafoo-Chakkar (1975)
It was one of the 1st movies which showed cross-dressing. Rishi recently while wishing Asha Bhosle her birthday revealed a rare trivia about her by stating that only a few know that Asha ji has sung for Rishi in the movie Rafoo Chakkar.
3. Laila-Majnu (1976)
Laila-Majnu stars Rishi and Ranjeeta became instant favorites at the get-go amongst the fans. This hit movie had terrific music and had 9 songs, with Rafi Saab. Composer Madan Mohan passed away during the making of the film after completing 6 songs but composer Jaidev then completed the 3 remaining ones.
4. Sargam (1979)
The film was famous for numerous reasons but what made this one huge was Rishi Kapoor. The song Dafli Wale Dafli Baja debuted as Number 1 on the Binaca Geetmala and continued as Number 1 for 25 weeks, till it was retired. This is the only song to have this honor.
5. Karz (1980)
Karz was yet another gem of a film starring Rishi with Tina Munim and Simi Grewal. The film had a unique plot and was based on reincarnation. The songs were brilliant as well as they were sung by Kishore Kumar barring one, by Rafi, the melodious ‘Dar-e-Dil’, a trademark Rafi song and one of the best of his career.
