Remakes that are super-duper hit than their originals
We have seen a trend in movie remakes in the past few years. The reason is that many of these films don't have the big budget or proper recognition to make it big at the box office. Thus, renowned directors from Bollywood stepped in the direction of remaking these films with bigger budgets and popular names. Here are some of the best remakes from Bollywood that performed better than originals.
Pokiri, a Telugu film released in 2006, starring megastar Mahesh Babu was the original idea behind Wanted. It was remade in Hindi by Prabhu Deva with Salman Khan, Ayesha Takia Azmi, and Prakash Raj. Another super show from Salman Khan to get a lot of traction with his movies.
Singam is a Tamil blockbuster, directed by Hari, and has Tamil superstar Suriya in the lead role. This was the movie that inspired Rohit Shetty to create his police universe. One of the best Bollywood remakes of South Indian movies, Singham stars Ajay Devgn in the lead.
Drishyam (2013) directed by Jeethu Joseph stars Mohanlal in the lead role who has given one of his career-best performances in this thriller. The edgy writing, crisp direction, and strong performances make this a must-watch movie. Nishikant Kamat roped in Ajay Devgn to remake this successful caper of the same name.
Telugu film Temper starring Prakash Raj, N. T. Rama Rao Jr, and Kajal Aggarwal smashed box office records in 2015, which inspired Rohit Shetty to remake it into Simmba. Shetty continued his Singham trajectory with Ranveer Singh-starred to make a commercially successful masala entertainer.
Kabir Singh (2019)
The movie was a remake based on "Arjun Reddy", a Telugu blockbuster that caught a lot of attention in the southern industry. Starring Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani, the movie was about a topsy-turvy relationship that ends with a happy ending for the couple.
